Clubs & Extracurricular

Welcome to St. John Vianney's exciting extracurricular program, where creativity, talent, and leadership take center stage! Our school goes beyond academics, offering a diverse array of opportunities for students to explore their passions and develop well-rounded skills.

Art Club

Students have an opportunity to enhance their creativity beyond the classroom by attending Art Club after school. During each 6-week offering, students focus on one to two art mediums by learning the basic techniques used to create works of art. This smaller setting enhances student knowledge, builds friendships beyond the normal school day, and deepens their love for the Visual Arts.

SJVS students participate in the Diocesan Art Show every year, in addition to a “Celebration of the Arts Day” within the St. John Vianney School community.

Choir Group App

Choir

All students in Grades 4 - 8 are welcome to join the SJV School Choir. New members are welcome at any time. The goal is to provide choir members with an opportunity to participate, through song, in liturgy worship on Wednesdays and once a month on Sundays. They may also perform at special musical events throughout the school year.

  • Choir Rehearsals - The Choir rehearses on Mondays from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm, and on Wednesdays from 2:00 pm to 2:45 pm.

  • Cantors - Students in Fifth Grade and up can audition to be a Cantor. Cantors are singers who show a very high interest and level of commitment for singing at school Mass on Wednesday mornings. Cantors are carefully screened for their talents in leading hymns and singing in a solo situation in front of their peers.

  • Liturgical Instrumental Ensemble - These are the musicians that accompany the choir along with our adult pianist. It can include students who play brass, wood winds, percussion or string instruments. These students are hand selected by choir staff.

Drama

THE ST. JOHN VIANNEY PLAYERS

The SJV Players are an award-winning, after school Performance and Technical Drama troupe for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students. The Players perform two shows a year:  a straight play in the fall and a musical in the spring. Auditions are held, but voice or acting experience are not required.

The SJV Junior Players are an after school drama group for 4th and 5th grade students. The Junior Players perform a 30-minute play once every school year.

National Junior Honor Society

The National Junior Honor Society recognizes outstanding SJVS middle school students in the spring each year. More than just an honor roll, NJHS serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, service, leadership, character, and citizenship.

An average of 94% or above in all core subjects and all 1’s in Behaviors of a Learner during the second trimester of 5th, 6th, or 7th grade and the first trimester of 6th, 7th, or 8th grade will qualify a student to apply for the National Junior Honor Society.

Once a student has met the minimum qualifying grade point average and demonstrates the appropriate Behaviors of a Learner, he or she will receive an application packet to complete. The faculty will review candidates for admission into the National Junior Honor Society.
